Arkadij Winokurow

Arkadij Winokurow was born in 1948 in Kiev. He marticulated from the special school for highly talented children "N. Lysenko". He graduated with distinction from the Tchaikovsky State Conservatory of Music, as well as completed the post-graduate studies (Aspirantur).

In 1971 he appeared as soloist with the Kiev State Philharmonic Orchestra. He took part in concert tours in the former USSR and abroad (USA, Canada and Europe). He has numerous broadcastings with the Ukrainian Radio. Since 1972, Mr. Winokurow has been Professor at the Tchaikovsky State Conservatory of Music. He is the prizewinner of such international competitions as "Prague Spring" (chaired by David Oistrakh) and Long-Thibaud (chaired by Leonid Kogan).

From 1979 to 1980, Arkadij Winikurow has been guest professor at the Tampere Conservatory (Finland). In 1987 he was appointed director and conductor of the Kiev Chamber Orchestra. He toured with this renowned orchestra of the former USSR to Finland, Germany, USA and the Netherlands. Mr. Winokurow has made various recordings with the Ukrainian Radio and the Canadian label Analecta. In 1992, he immigrated to Austria. He teaches in Vienna and Linz as Professor at the Bruckner University. He regularly appears in concerts as primarius of the "Arte Viva Quartet", and is a member of the "Vienna String Soloists". Professor Winokurow is also a jury member of various Austrian and international competitions.
