Clayton Scott

Clayton Scott was born in Toronto, Canada, studied piano with Sue (Davidson) Polanyi and Anne Drake and is a graduate of the Royal Conservatory of Music (Piano Performance) and the University of Toronto.

Ms. Scott has taught piano since 1969. In 1992 she joined the Faculty of Suzuki Kingston and Summer Music Fest (now More Than Music). It was for this Institute that she developed the highly acclaimed lecture/performance series, Music Through the Ages, a course in music history for the young music student, now consisting of over 75 titles.

She is an accredited Teacher Trainer for the Bigler ~ Lloyd-Watts Mastering the Piano pedagogy.

She adjudicates piano festivals, conducts piano master classes, presents opera and ballet workshops, gives professional development lectures for teachers and delivers motivational lectures for teachers, parents and students throughout North America.

Since 1981 Ms. Scott has been a member of the Board of Examiners of The Royal Conservatory of Music, examining in Rudiments, Harmony and Music History.

She has performed with the West Shore Symphony Orchestra (Harrisburg, PA) and for the Toronto Symphony Orchestra - Maestro's Club (Toronto, ON), Pacific Opera Victoria (Victoria, BC), the Royal Conservatory of Music (Toronto, ON) and the World Children's Choir (Washington, D.C.) among others.

Teaching assignments have been executed for the Glenn Gould Professional School - Royal Conservatory of Music (Toronto, ON), Harrisburg Area Community College (Harrisburg, PA), Emporia State University (Emporia, KS) along with a myriad of public and private elementary and high schools in Canada and the USA.

Ms. Scott has performed both solo and in a violin-piano duo with violinist Karen Kimmett.

Ms. Scott is the Past Chair of the Board of Directors of the National Ballet School, a founding member of the National Ballet School Foundation and a past member of the Board of Directors of the National Ballet of Canada. She is also a member of the Suzuki Association of the Americas, the Ontario Suzuki Association and the Ontario Registered Music Teachers' Association. She is a Trustee of the Sir Ernest MacMillan Memorial Foundation and has served on the Advisory Council for Learning Through the Arts at the Royal Conservatory of Music.
