Peter Cosbey![]() Peter Cosbey, a graduate of the Royal Conservatory of Music's Glenn Gould School as a student of Bryan Epperson, began his cello study in Regina with Cameron Lowe. His orchestral experience with the Canadian Opera Company Orchestra and the Regina Symphony Orchestra was recently expanded with a one-year term as Assistant Principal Cello with the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra. As a soloist, Peter recently performed the Chaccona-Meditation for Cello and Piano Quintet dedicated to Mstislav Rostropovich with the composer Ismayil Hajiev. The performance of this work at the Niagara International Chamber Music Festival was recorded for broadcast on Azerbaijan Television. As well as regularly performing on the Alicier Arts chamber music series Peter recently appeared on the Mooredale Concerts series and the Niagara International Chamber Music Festival. Peter's performances with The Cosbey Trio and Quinsin Nachoff have been heard on CBC radio, and his work with the Artists of The Royal Conservatory has been heard on CBC and WCLV-FM radio. Peter and pianist Mariko Kamachi performed a recital in Regina that was broadcast on CBC radio and more recently performed on the Canadian Opera Company’s Richard Bradshaw Amphitheatre concert series. Peter's awards include the Dr. Howard Leyton-Brown bow award, the Director's Gold Medal from the Conservatory of Performing Arts in Regina, a third prize in the Chamber Music category of the National Music Festival with The Cosbey Trio and top prize at the Regina Musical Club's Recital Competition for 2006. |
