Tymur Melnyk

Tymur Melnyk was born in 1985 in Ukraine. He won numerous international violin competitions, in 2007 - the Grand Prix of the Osaka International Music Competition in Japan (800 contestants), in 2008 - the Grand Prix of the International Forum "Musical Performance and Pedagogics" in Italy. Tymur started to play violin at the age of 6 with his mother, Prof. Hanna Melnyk as a teacher, he continued his studies under Prof. Michael Frischenschlager at the University of Music and performing Arts in Vienna where he received his masters degree in 2009.

Tymur gave concerts and recitals across Europe, Canada, Russia and Japan, took part in many intensive workshops, a.o. with V. Spivakov, Z. Bron, E. Chougaeva, D. Schwarzberg.

Tymur is a scholarship holder of many foundations, a.o. of the "Schinner Stiftung", "Karajan Foundation" and "Cziffra Foundation".

In the year 2008 Tymur received the Austrian citizenship due to his extraordinary artistic activities.
